Belgium's business confidence improved for the fourth consecutive month in October from the previous month.

The overall synthetic curve increased to minus 2.8 in October from minus 3.4 in the previous month, a latest report from the National Bank of Belgium showed on Friday. Economists had expected a reading of minus 3.8.

The confidence indicator for the manufacturing industry moved up to minus 6.5 in October from minus 7.4 in September. This was mainly due to more favorable assessment of order books and a better outlook for employment, the bank said. The confidence for the building industry rose to minus 1.8 in October from minus 3.6 last month.

On the other hand, the sentiment indicator on business related services decreased to 11.2 in October from 12.1 in September, while confidence index for the trade fell to 1.6 from 2.7.
